While attending my church, a friend reached out to me asking if I was interested in doing a fellow church-goer's wedding video. Without knowing much information, I was willing to sign on because if my good friend Matt is vouching for me and getting my name out there, I know I must act on it. From there, I get in touch with Brian (the Groom) and what he describes on that phone call is every videographer's ideal scenario; just shoot the footage...no editing.

Usually I'm recording the wedding and editing the video. So, safe to say, I was a little confused why he only wanted the footage. Come to find out, the Best Man (his brother) owns a video company and will be editing the footage.
Two things ran though my mind:
1) This arrangement saves me a headache editing the project due to my already heavy workload.
2) If the Best Man owns a video company, that means he will have an acute eye for detail. Which means I got to put my game face on.

I felt the need to reach out to the Best Man to see if he had any vision in mind for the video. In my head, it would be crucial to know how the Best Man is imagining the final product so I can make post production go by a lot smoother. For better and for worse, I get full control over the footage. This is good because I don't need to stick to a shot list throughout the whole night. At the same time I like having a shot list.
Either way, I prepared mentally for the wedding day by thinking about different shot compositions. Since I don't need to think about how the video will flow in the edit, I can solely focus on the visuals.
The Wedding day comes and it goes as smooth as can be with relatively no hiccups. I get the footage to the Best Man, he cuts up a draft within 1-2 weeks, and the result is probably my best looking Wedding video to date. I'm very thankful for the opportunity and I'm wishing Brian & Kenia the best! As well, shoutout to the Best Man's video company - Seymour Mac Productions.
